My good friend, Marty Schorr gave me this from Buick about 5 years ago. He also stated as mentioned in a previous post here on this thread that it was never advertised because of the racing ban that GM agreed to honor back in the day.

The Mechanix Illustrated article was the one that I mentioned that was written by Tom McCahill. If you can find it, it's a great read.

I agree with you John, that refueling car deserves a lot of credit! I wonder if Buick had a backup refueling plan in case they had a brake-down on this critical car? It would be interesting to find out if both of these 1960 Buicks survived and are waiting to be discovered somewhere, or are they sitting in someone's collection just waiting for their story to be told? I hope their still around! Larry.

The first time I saw this video was in high school auto mechanics class about 1978 or 79. I think the teacher had it on a movie reel. The teacher was a former Buick mechanic and had his two 1970 GSX's in the auto shop. I remember thinking it was cool that I drove a Buick as well, and he was able to help me work on it. He still has one of the X's to this day.

Yep, I had to watch that video again today. I'm having a slow day at my liquor store today and had some time to kill, so I played it again and you have to wonder has any car company since this 1960 Buick endurance trial ever tried something like this? It would be interesting to know? I'm starting to have more respect for these early 401's and those 1960 Buicks!! Larry.
