On my thread 350 teardown and build I knife edged and polished the weights on the crank and just sent it to get polished. I plastigaged it first with new main bearings and it was around .002 so I can live with that, just a little loose on #5. The rods with low mileage rod bearings was .0015 and tighter so I would like them a little more loose. The guy at the machine shop said it's all good but 1 rod journal is .005 less then the others but straight across. I was thinking of trying it since I want the rods closer to .002 but I started thinking, what if the journal is .005 offset or will the rods start walkin and make the bearings wear out on that journal. It is at .010 so I told him to grind it to .020 but he said he was on crutches and would have to let the same guy do it at another shop that cut the 455 crank down to far and I said no I will pick it up. So it's ship it to Ohio Crankshaft, buy a crank kit from crankshaft rebuilders, or find one here that is done by someone who works on Buick engines. I'm thinking around 30 bucks or less to ship one and all I need is rod bearings if the mains are .010 so who has one that is polished or turned and ready to install?
