I got a Chevy distributor from the junkyard, took out the stuff on top.use a half inch drill, done. You do have to take the gear out and maybe make the top smaller, but a grinder will work wonders.Bruno.

We made one from a large flat blade screwdriver with a socket welded to it to keep it centered on the oil pump shaft. Cut the handle off the screwdriver and stuck it in the cordless drill, good working primer for 5 minutes of work!

Cool. I'm looking to prime mine after it has sat for several months during all the transplant work.

BTW, does you Harley Sprint SS have a windshield? I had one of those bikes back in 1972. Black and cream. I sold it after one too many a person tried to kill me on the LA freeways.

When you use the distributor, the housing centers the shaft in place.Bruno.

No windshield, just for putting around town. I'd be afraid to take it on the freeway!

Like Bruno, however, I purchased an old buick distributor (350) at a swap meet and removed all the old unnecessary pieces. I had a friend weld a 5/16" bolt (cut the head off) to the distrib shaft top end. Voila, a priming tool.
    cost $10.
