Hey guys, I feel kind of dumb being a Buick guy for 40 years and lacking knowledge on this, and I could use your help. I am working on a non-running, junkyard (literally) 64 Skylark that has had a 350 swapped into it at some point in the distant past. The engine has a valve rocker shaft, like a nailhead, rather than rockers with studs. Something is amiss with those rockers. So my questions are:

Does the presence of the rocker shaft mean it is a 68-89 solid pushrod engine? If no, what years did the 350 use a rocker shaft? At least one of the rockers is missing the hardened insert that pushes on the valve. Where can I find a new or used rocker? All I see advertised are rockers with the stud in the middle, and they appear to be listed as 1970 and up.

    Thanks very much.

    Richard

The 68-69 350 oiled the valve train through passages in the block and head. 70 and up 350s oiled through the lifters, and push rods.

Download a pdf of the TA Performance Catalog,

They will have replacement parts for you.

All Buick 350 used the rocker shaft. Difference is '68-9 oiled through the head & '70 up through the pushrods.
