Hello, new guy here. I am going to put a 455 in place of a 350 in a skylark. I am switching from the buick turbo 350 to a Pontiac turbo 400 tranny. This tranny will bolt up to all pontiac engines and I am told Buick as well. Will this transmission bolt up to the big block Buick 455?

Yes- that tranny will bolt right up. The "pontiac" tranny is really a BOP tranny. Meaning Buick-Olds-Pontiac, a Caddy will bolt up to a BOP tranny as well. Chevy has there own Specific bellhousing pattern, and I don't know why.

Actually, Chevy came out with that bellhousing pattern in 1955, which I believe is the earliest of all the modern motors. So, BOP didn't conform to the chevy bellhousing.

That's because Buicks are special, and not in that kinda way. Chevy's are the ones who make the short buses.
