I agree. That is way to much. But man I would love to set that up in my pit at the track. Good find.

surely he's wrong about the era of the sign? there's no way that's a "50's" sign, is there? can it even be "60's"?

I can tell you for the 80s and 90s you had to destroy the old sign and take pictures for proof to get paid by GM for putting up a new sign. You had to really be someone to get around that as we wanted paid. And you don't screw around if you want to keep them GM contracts.

Though we only had to break the plastic, we could recycle the main body, bulbs, ballest.......... They didn't want us reselling the signs. You could take double pics of some broken stuff and get away with it but we never did.

Saw this one at the BJ auction. Very nice but way out of my price range. I could buy a lot of race parts for $4K! There were more Buick signs there for sale, some as high as $10-$12K! I guess you can ask whatever you want, but the real question is do they ever sell any at this price?

That sign came off of Shore Buick in Bellmore LI. I have a postcard from Shore Buick. The showroom is filled with new 1967 cars and that sign is lit up on top of the building.

The blue letters are raised, as well as the perimeter of the white background. Its not flat like the 80s signs were. If it were a closer pic, you could tell. Its made out of 1/4" thick plastic.

I believe Steve was referring to the sign in Mark's first post.

Though those intrested I am designing a vintage like Buick sign to sell.
Ubar affordable and so cool everyone will want one or more [ I have a few designs in mind.]. Just some techinical glitches on my "simple" design though.

1st prototype not even good enough to show for a teaser.

Thats a great idea. Ive often wondered why someone doesnt come out with a 60's style sign. Im so sick of seeing the same old round Buick signs all over the place

I think the licensing is too much of a hassle and too expensive. I asked Classic Instruments what it would take to screen the old Buick script on the face of the tach they were building for me and the response was "don't ask...we can't go there!". I've heard GM is very strict about such stuff, even on an amateur club level. I think some Corvette guys got into it with them big time awhile back.

I suppose we're probably a pretty small part of the market share, too.

Im avoiding all that by using what you can buy already licensed or needing it with the Buick part on it. My idea is in the frame or holder. Also limits what I can do but necessary to keep it cheap. But also why its neat, its more creative like a gift you make yourself.

Yep Im selling glue n glitter macaroni Buick signs.

Now the price has increased from $1400 to $2000. I thought the first price was too much. Actually, this guy is a joke and I encourage all to forget this signage. I have a feeling that by me posting it here is possibly the reason why he he raised the price - alot more attention than he could have dreamed of. :Dou:
