Less than $700! Not mine. Just noticed on Craig's list.

It could be a real one. Note the decal on rear quarter panel. Also has Gran Sport emblem in the grill.

Looks to be rust free, that is they won't charge you extra for the rust!

SOLD! Real deal - 79k,plain jane, working A/C, tilt, bench, AM radio, runs and drives nice. All original - engine still has all smog controls, solenoids, etc. Solid frame and floor. Spray can primer wasn't the thick, scratch fill kind- some rust holes still show. Could 73's come with dog dish?(hint-hint) Hope to have it home this weekend!

When I get it home and have all the numbers, I'll be in touch. What size wheel came std. with the dog dish caps? It has new 14" radials- white walls are still "blue". Seats are really plain and in super shape- no tears or rips. Has the gauge pack. The car must be the base model with A/C, tilt,14x6 ralleys and rear speaker. Any clue on production numbers?

Mike Scores a Buick GS for Cheap!!!

    Mike

Glad to here it worked out for you. Not often you see these for sale.

What is the story on the car. Did you buy it from old folks? I had a 73 Century Luxus the same color as that one 20 years ago (in Austin MN of all places). Mine also had the brown interior. Roof was different.

I worked for P&E Buick in Rochester in the Mid 80's. I see that dealer closed down this year.

    Have fun with it.

Elderly owner passed away and son in law was to sell it. Car was in was in Rush City-(about an hour away) .After a minor tune-up, made it to his house in south Minneapolis. Grandpa went wild with the spray can primer-over emblems, rocker molding, etc. Runs and drives nice. It will never be a show car-just a decent driver. Plan to repair rust/ replace fenders and doors, re-paint original color, add 15x7 ralleys, detail engine/interior. One of very few without a vinyl roof. Should be ready for summer cruising-with working A/C no less! Let the hunt for decent sheetmetal begin. As for P&E closing, went to school with Joel McGovern and Brian Becker. The way they closed up so fast , seemed shady to most people who worked there. In the mid 80's I had a gold 67 GS 400. Maybe you recall seeing it around- drove it all the time to shows and even to Iola, Wi. It was it the Supercar Showdown in 1985 at Bowling Green, KY. Ran low 14's - good enough for 13th out of 46 cars . Great memories now...

    Working A/C, what a bonus.

The old man (Bob) that owned the Buick dealer had a 67 Skylark convertible that we repainted on winter. It was red with a black interior and looked to be a nice car until one of the old guys showed us the rusted frame. He put the top down and opened the doors and then jumped on the door sill. It shook like a bowl of jello. It was a true road hazard. Some old mechanic named Maynard (from spring valley) patched it up with 3/16 thick angle iron. Sure looked funny with that hanging down from under the car.

Grandpas have a funny way of painting up old cars. I knew an old guy in Mankato that painted his faded 1970 Wildcat with a roller. That paint job had the texture of a sprayed ceiling. It was sad and funny at the same time. :Brow:

That should make for a great cruser. Those are nice cars out on the road. I knew it was an old folks story. Lots of them to be found in this part of the country. You just have to deal with the rust. So long the frame is good, no big deal. Heck, for the price you can't go wrong. When was the last time anyone purchased a running real Buick GS for under a grand? That's a 1985 price for a GS.

Keep us posted on how this one goes.

The 67 gs 400 is another old man story.Bought it from a mechanic at the VW dealer in Rochester, MN for $75.00. it was all original and had the star wars air cleaner! Said it sucked too much gas! Rear end was on the ground from shot springs , Exhaust was single with a shot muffler, carb ran super rich from a saturated float, but it made it home. Was going to be my winter car so I could store my 63 Wildcat 2dr- recently restored with new paint. The next winter I stored them both! Still have a pic of the 67 shortly after I bought it. ALum. slots, air shocks, carb rebuild, and a muffler later I was cruising Broadway with the Sorenson boys and their Chebbies. No one at that time knew what a GS was. Another round of memories...

THAT'S IT!!!! The yellow 68 GS California is Sonny Seal's . I borrowed his way too tall slicks just for grins. In return, he wanted to race me!That weekend was the fist time I had been at a drag strip, let alone race! I ran a 14.02 on that run- stock ( with minor tweaks) motor, Stock exhaust with quiet mufflers and 2"tailpipes(notice the Hi-Perf chrome tip-ads 20HP) I think I beat him but not by much! His 350 had been worked on( cam, headers, intake, etc.) Sonny was a instant friend and way cool- called his car "Tweety".Later, he went nuts on that car(He had to be in his mid 60's at the time-Too much Geritol?) and added a pro built motor, trans, susp.,and even a roll bar! That pic was taken at the GS Nats in 1985 at Bowling Green , KY-same place and weekend as the Supercar Showdown. John Chamberlin had fastest et at 13.38. I met him just briefly-everybody was busy with prepping their cars. He was kind enough to give me his "GS" license plate which I still have. It is now on my 70 Stage 1. The commarderie back then was just awesome! Many more good memories...

Mike I bought a Switch Pitch Trans from you at that meet. Rusty Willbanks was redoing the motor in my GS at that time and took it back to his place to install in my GS. Was good times back then.
