Painted and chrome are the same part number I believe. The lack of quality pics does not enable you to judge whether they should be rechromed. If they do or the chrome is just a bit tired, you are better off sending a nice painted pair to a chrome shop.
Something is not right here.!! Do the stock stage 1 valve covers have those 2 close together punch-out looking flat spots?? I see the one has the right slanted end to go under the brake booster, but, the other one is what I question?? Especially when the title is "1970 stage one valve covers?" Be very careful if bidding:Smarty:

Thanks Steve I stand corrrected on the numbers. Do you agree that aside from the number and the paint versus chrome coating, they are the same?
The part numbers were different (chrome vs regular) but the casting number(s) are the same from what I remember.
Thanks for that clarification Korrie . I remembered identity between the two but for the chrome and I recall TA telling me that the painted ones were used by them for cores to chrome.
The stamping dies were the same but the I.D. part #'s stamped were specific. They also have a date code stamped on each cover. Identical without reading the #'s though.:Brow:
Those valve covers with the two bosses close together are the 75-6 455 covers, engines were painted blue. I guess someone chromed them not realizing there was no Stage1 for the Century/Regal models in those years.
