Buick Nailhead

    I found this really wierd picture on carcraft.com (wierd to me at least). If anyone else has info on this kind of thing, feel free to send me a pm.

    It's a "reversed port" (with a crank driven blower) nailhead. :eek2: This is the only picture of it they had tho, but there is a whole article dedicated to nailheads.

    I had heard the oldtimers talk about this with the nailhead, to maximize the restrictive heads, but had never seen one until your post. Very cool, indeed. Also cool is the Kaehne system of ignition which used all the plug wires in series with constant spark. It used machined "ignition chambers" in the sparkplug holes with ignitors or glow plugs. Supposedly, it allowed the engine to determine its own advance, depending on oxygen content and air pressure. The guy put one in a Rivi and drove croos country to prove it. Dan
