    Hallo,

i am quite new here. I am german and live very close to Dsseldorf. I am driving a 76 Buick Regal Coupe since 20 years. The car has a new paint, new rebuild 400 engine and a 3,73 rear axle.

What i am looking for, is a used or new autobody panel fillers for the rear bumper. My original plastik filler is destroyed.

I have already bought a new one from a company via E-Bay. But the fitting qualitiy is very poor. I dont like to install them. An original used one in good condition would be the best.

Please help me to find such a bumper filler

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

That will be a hard item to find since the age factor destroys them....will have to come from a garage-kept car which will have minimum sun damage.

Heat and humidity is bad for these fillers, not to mention ,time. Find one from a northern car. The cold and lack of humidity seems to help preserve these fillers.

Thank you for the Internetpage. From this company i bought already the rear bumper filler. But the fitting quality is bad. The middle and the side parts are oblique. So, it will not fit correctly. There are no holes for screws. It must be a levitating unit. And if you drill the holes, i think the material will break during driving, becauce of vibrations. It is fiberglas.

The work for the right fitting will be too much. That is the reason, why i am looking for another manufacturer or a used one.

    @ all other

    Thank you for your answer

    Thank you.

In his catalog they offer the rear pumper panel fillers for a lot of
Regals but not for the 76 Regal Coupe. So i sent them an E-Mail.

So, i let you know, that the bad fiberglas fillers i let modify by my painter, because no other company´s producing the fillers for the 76 Regal coupe. He is a professional and can do this job right. He says, he needs about 15 Hours for modify the fillers. So you can calculate how much it will cost.

This is a warning for all others, who intend to buy the fiberglas fillers. This units has extremly bad fitting quality. They are bent and it needs a lot of work to fit correctly.

I remember a posting of a board member (a few years ago) that made his rear fillers out of aluminium, don't remember his name.
But maybe someone will chime in....:bglasses:

Did you notice this eBay Store ? :Comp:

No problem, i can do that.

I know you from the German "Ami-forum". My nickname is "mike cougar". But i don´t write anymore in this forum. For you, i should write in German because i know that you understand the German language.:pp

If you read my first statement, i wrote that i have already bought this fiberglas fillers from that company via E-Bay. And exactly this fillers has a very, very bad fitting. They are also to short, bent and my painter is wondering that companies in the USA will sell such kind of terrible junk. In USA exist only one manufacturer which produce the bumber fillers in fiberglas and obviously only for the Regal 76 coupe. And this is the company on E-Bay with names "replica plastics" or "fiberglas auto body panels". There are a lot of companies with different names on the market, but its only one manufacturer and they are selling all the same product.

I have also asked one company in Germany to produce the fillers in aluminium. But the price is horrible. It will cost about 2000,- €, its about 2600 $. I have checked every possibility.

If you or other guys have still an idea, then let me know.

    Best Regards
    MIKE (Michael)

It seems to me that there is a company that advertises in Hemmings that specializes in filler pieces for Oldsmobiles, Buicks, and Cadillacs. I think they probably advertise in all three sections, but I know they advertise in the Cadillac section. You might try to get a copy for these parts and for others, as well. My first new car was a 1976 Regal coupe. It had just about every option you could get on it at the time. Nice car, but no power, even with a 350-4v, and lousy gas mileage-best I ever got was 15 mpg, all highway.

Thank you for your proposal. I hope, that i can get the Hemmings in Germany at the airport or main stations.

You are right. The original engine is a tired dog. I build a 400 pontiac in my car, so the car ist rather quick. It is gone 14,72 sec. on the 1/4 mile and with 125 HP NOS 13,46 sec., with street tires, measured on a very hot day 31° C or 89° F. This is not so bad for a 4100 pounds car.

    Best Regards

I'm sure one of the board members will browse through his copy of Hemmings to find that ad for you and post the details here :TU:

You can also try to find that advertisement online:

I found a place that might be able to help you. They are Musselman Distributing Co. in Houston, Texas. Phone numbers are:

    toll free in US: 1-800-354-3254
    or regular number: 713-974-4485
    email them at: musselmandist@usa.net

They advertise "Bumper Fillers and Extensions", "fiberglass and/or ABS plastic", "for most '73-'90 cars". They have pieces for Buicks (including Regal/2 & 4dr), Cadillacs, Chevys, Olds, and Pontiacs.

    Hope this helps.

There is one company that produces the ABS fillers, and one company that produces the fiberglass fillers. Everyone else is a distributor.
