Thats sweet! 4 doors are perfect for sleepers. heres a better pic of my car without the smoke. I painted it black it will be a dark blue eventually....
Here's mine, the 350 has only been in it a few weeks now. It replaced the tired 3.8 V6. It's a '87 Regal with a '72 350, TH350, 3.08 Posi, T/A intake and 2-1/2" Hooker exhaust. The only other thing I plan on doing to it is repainting it. Ken
that 350 looks so comfy in there. Did your 6cyl accessory brackets bolt up to the heads? Will tube headers fit the regal?
All of the V6 stuff will bolt up to the 350, it even uses the V6 motor mounts. I plan on making or modifying a new alternator mount that doesn't mount it up so high soon. Headers do fit this swap I'm told with little or no modification depending on the brand used. I'll be using this for a daily driver so I didn't want to mess with headers on it. I couldn't believe how easy this swap was, everything just bolts right up. I added an HEI and just plugged it in to the stock V6 wiring harness. The T/A valve covers are too close to the a/c box and will be swapped for a set of stock ones at some point also. Ken
Nice pics everyone! Thanks for sharing! Sean, your '76 century looks great in black, nice paint job! :TU: I can't wait to see it in a shade of dark blue, I think that will look really awesome! :bglasses:
Sweet Regal. I always wanted one, but the ones in AZ are snapped up by the lowrider crowd. That leaves either the really clapped out ones or reversing the lowrider work done. That's a clean install. A little nitrous... :Brow:
It ain't no sleeper, but a sitter. It's sat for two years now. It has a 68 350/st-300 with about 45,000 miles.
Here's the other 350 car. At Quaker City in all its glory. Look closely and you can see the whitewalls on the rear.
Thanks Cody! Pretty quick you can post your can on here. I hope your swap is going as good as it should.
Here is mine. Ive been restoring it to present condition over the past 7 years. Fresh stock SP code 350 with portwork on intake, heads, exhaust manifolds.
Here is the engine, but a poor quality photo. Engine runs Evans coolant, electric cooling fan, pulls 24 inches of vacuum at idle, 1/2 inch phenolic carb spacer, with a built OG code 2004R trans behind it. Ive done all the work on this car including paint and interior. Only thing i have not done myself, was an alignment 5 years ago. The TV cable pressure on the throttle shaft on the Qjet increased the wear on the already worn out original carb. Its been running a little off, and i havent had time to really tune the car yet. I just installed a 73 350 buick reman. carburetor and it definately runs smoother, just needs some tweaks. Anyone know about the jetting on the stock 350 carburetors? different between 70 and 73? My 70 carb after the portwork would surge badly all the way through the RPM range in every gear, which led me to believe that it was lean. The new carb doesnt surge as much, but still surges a little. I havent recurved the distributor yet, but with it set at 10 deg. initial it has around 30 max. I think it will run better if i can get around 35 degrees total. I G-teched it with this setting and the old carburetor(bogs, surges, etc) and no traction through 1st gear causing it to shift into 2nd early and bog the motor down. 16.1 @ 91.1mph. I think i should be able to get it up to around 95mph in the quarter with tuning. The overdrive is awesome, and ive been to around 150mph at least twice with a good bit of gear left. I havent hit the "wall" yet as it was still pulling strong, but the car is just as smooth at 150 as it is at 50. Car also has a awesome sound system using Resonant Engineering speakers and an Adire Audio subwoofer. These are some of the best speakers for accurate sound reproduction on the market. Lots of Dynamat too. Im also 19 years old and have invested over 6K in this car including the 1K purchase price. I make up for lack of $$ by doing my own labor on everything.
Took out 115,000 300-2bbl/ST-300 switch pitch, installed 350-4bbl/ST-300. That's about it. We used the 350 motor mounts I think. It is really basic. Wish the switch pitch ST-300 was in there but was getting to the point of a needed rebuild. The 350/st-300 was free with low miles. It was a no brainer. It's quite remarkable how similar the 300-340-350 and the V6 are.
That's my 54,000 mile 70 GS 350. I had it stored at a local limestone mine for about 3 years. I brought it out just for the 2nd annual BPG event (the real reason is that the 71 Skylark wasted its tranny, and I needed a Buick that wasn't my Regal--no fast car for Joey). With a fresh tank of gas it managed a best of a 15.7 @ 85 on rock hard radials that were installed in 1974. My 60' was around 2.5 seconds or so. I tried to feather it off the line as it would just go up in smoke if I didn't. Should have used better tires, probably could have broke into the 14's. It definitely had the potential.
