Nice! I need a set. So uh when I place an order for my 69 should I ask for the 71-72 ones?

Sorry dude, no sale -- I'm gonna wait and buy mine from Gordon Mello.

They look good -- I'll get a set in the not-to-distant future.

Order them for the correct year. Only the pictures were labeled wrong. I just corrected the pictures so they are labeled with the right years now, sorry for any confusion...

    Tilt Levers

Has anyone else bought a set of the reproduction levers? I bought a set of each, 69-70 and 71-72. In comparing them to the ones on my cars, the repro 69-70 tilt lever is shorter than the original and on the 71-72 turn signal lever, it is longer than the original. Anyone else notice this? The 70 turn signal and the 72 tilt lever match.

Any thoughts? I haven't talked to the Parts Place yet so I'm not dogging anyone. Just want to confirm what I've discovered.

I noticed the same thing on the 70's I bought. Seems like they could have gotten this right from the start. :Dou:

The ebay auction says 100% Correct???

I wonder whats going on here :Dou:

They probably only had a picture of the original levers.
Its hard to determine correct size from a picture :eek2:

The 70 tilt lever is a tad short. It is noticeable.

But, THEY ARE VERY NICE, AND WORTH 29 BUCKS!!!!!!

    HARD #'s

How about some hard numbers??? 1/8 in. or 1/4 in. HOW much wrong are they???

I would say a 1/16th to a 1/8th of an inch short on the 69-70. I just pulled a used one out of one out of the parts car in back. We sent samples out to various vendors to see what they thought of them, guess no one compared them to original ones or put them side by side. We used NOS ones for the original samples, who knows. They could have pushed the beveled end cap on to the arm to far. I would still say that the small size difference is still better than the nasty silver painted used one in the picture. Most would hardly notice. When I come up with a 71-72 I will post a picture of it for reference. I guess if size really matters to you, you could rub a little viagra on it, or just get yours replated... :Do No:

    Thanks,
    Shane

    Shane,

    Thats the turn signal lever.

Compare the TILT levers. Your repro is much shorter than the original.

Since I can't find a used one to compare the tilt lever to could someone who has noticed this first hand, please post a picture of ours next to an original. I am interested to see. Thanks

Ummm.... Wouldn't it be easier to just lay it on a tape measure and shoot a pic of its length instead of buying an incorrect part and then doing a side by side shot?? It would save the cost to return of the part back..

    Tilt & Turn Signal Levers

I measured the levers today and here is the difference. The 70 tilt lever is between 3/4-1" shorter than the original. This should work OK but to the trained eye it will not be correct. The 71-72 turn signal lever is about an 1" longer than the original. It sticks out past the steering wheel and could become an issue.

I've been busy getting ready for Salem so I haven't had a chanbce to call the Parts Place. Will do that next week when things slow down.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

I just measured the originals I have.

    Tilt is 5.5" long
    Turn is 6.25" long

As Shane stated...probably will be 1/16-1/8" variance due to the installation of the plastic handle on the metal shaft.
