I am home for a funeral and was running around the area for old times sake and felt compelled to stop by the largest concrete slab east of the Mississippi. The UAW and POW flags are almost gone. This place kills me to see after having known what it was like in the 70's. This Local 599 site is now being used as the Buick City Event Center.
Interesting... I don't know what the largest slab is west of the Mississippi, but I bet the tarmac at Little Rock Air Force base is close. That thing is hundreds of acres and stretches as far as the eye can see in all directions. Those are c-130s, which are pretty big planes.
It is sad to drive across I 475 in flint to see acres of asphalt that was once Buick city , my dad and many friends and family all worked there ,,went to auto Rama yesterday to , some amazing cars , trucks , The black gs was a nice car , was hoping for more buicks ,, did run into this guy was pretty kool
I didn't know he was going to be there either , he was walking around checking out the cars ,I said hello , told him I loved his work , asked if I could get a picture he said sure , took picture ,thanked him , he shook my hand said no problem , unbelievable talent and a nice guy
