So Ive been looking for a Buick 350 for my 64 Skylark project. I check on e-bay, but I need it to be shipped and crated to Ontario I cant get many to comply.. :( I also want a complete running motor, complete with brackets, mounts and manifolds. So yesterday I check out autotrader.ca. Theres a 72 Skylark convertible listed for parts only in a salvage yard, about an hour away. I phone, he says it doesnt run, and doesnt know if it will roll over. They pulled it out of a field, probably has not run in 15 years. So I drive down. look it over, its rough, smacked in the left front, floors gone, roof vinal gone, rear quarters are shot, I might be able to salvage the trunk lid, rear bumper, and some other body parts. I check it, it rolls over by hand. Its got oil, half a rad full of coolant. I drop a battery in it and it rolls over, :) I roll it over a dozen times, remover the breather pour a little gas down the carb, roll it over , nothing!! Pull a plug wire, roll it over, no spark. Remove the distributor cap (maybe the points are stuck), give them a flick with a screwdriver, roll it over I can hear them spark. Put the cap back on roll it over and it coughs. Pour a little more gas down the carb roll it over, it sputters. So now I take the inlet hose off the fuel pump, steal a vent hose off the charcoal filter, plug it on the fuel pump and drop the free end into a 2 gallon gas can. Roll it over and it sputters and starts  sounds nice, theres not even an exhaust leak. I let it idle for a few minutes, rev it a couple of times. It sounds good I shut it down , theres a couple of gas leaks in my make shift plumping. I check the coolant and its good to minus 40. I thought it might have been sitting all these years with water in it and cracked the block, hopefully its alright. I start it up again (minding the gas leaks) put it in gear and it will move under its own power, then reverse its ok. Its sunk into the grass a little and needs some air in the tires. I pick it up Friday. I will do an assessment of whats good and be parting out what I dont want. :beer
There is also a 65 Skylark 2 DR HT sitting there. It has a 300 in it with buckets and a console complete with tack, the plastic console is broken. A 64 Chevelle, a 64 El Camino and a 64 Cutlass. He will not part out, wants $500.00 each. Stewarts Salvage in Aurora Ontario, 866-696-2511
    Thanks Bruce

That is great. Like you said old Buicks die hard. I'd love to have both the El Camino and Cutlass but have no where to store them. If you can post some pics of the cars. Great find, Ron :TU:

    Hi Darren,
I think it was biege or cream, I'm going down tomorrow I'll take pictures and post them. I'd sure like the console and tack out of it. But he won't part it out. Maybe I'll buy it too just for the consloe and part it out :error: .Try and explain that to my wife :blast:
The car was really tough, I don't think there was any thing holding up the back end.
    Thanks Bruce

Just a note of precaution and some pictures

Just a note of precaution. When poring gas down a carburetor use extreme caution. Any spillage on top of the coil or ignition wires can prove to be hazardous. One spark from a faulty wire can ignite the whole engine compartment. Another thing is never look down the carb. Backfiring up through the carb can singe a lot of hair. I know from personal experience. I found out the hard way about 30 years ago.

    65 Buick

The motor was stuck in this. He would not part it out and wanted $500.00 for it.

    Thanks for Pics

Thanks for the pics Bruce,i might have to try to talk wife into "just one more" :Brow: I am converting to 4-speed so the console might not be of use but looks to be lots of good parts on 65 buick!

Well if your going to pick it up, and I do mean pick it up I'd like to see about making a deal on the console. I picked mine up on Friday. I rented a U-Haul trailer. Thought I could drive it on. I find out the left rear wheel was seized. They picked it up with a fork lift. I freed up the wheel while it was on the trailer and drove it off. but a 4 ft section of frame fell off and the transmittion cross member. :)
