Bit confused about part numbers; always searching for (NOS) parts for the Wagon I found this eBay auction for a bumper guard part# is 1239609. ( eBay auction )
From a previous auction I purchased exactly the same guards in original box saying it is part# 981791 (gr 7.828) for rear bumper guards. Did those numbers change back than?

    Rob,

No number change....but you are correct.............
The 1239609 is the GM part number for the guard. It is
sometimes considered the replacement part number for a
vehicle already having bumper guards installed.
The 981791 is the GM accessory part number for the complete
set of bumper guards for the purpose of adding the option to the
vehicle. The kit would consist of 2 guards and an installation pkg.
    with instructions for assembly.

    David,
thanks for this explanation... that does make sense.
The package with guards I have, does not have the instructions, but still has a white "cotton"back holding the bolts...almost too nice to put those guards on the Wagon.

This is probably stretching it but, will GM part # 981791 front bumper guards for an Estate Wagon fit a 72 Buick GS350?

Bumpers are shaped differently between the 2 cars, so they won't fit.

Estate Wagon front kit number 981795

    rear kit is a 981791

To answer the question, no, but the rear guards of the Estate Wagon will fit the front of the GS350.
