    Hello all,
I am new to the board... I am having a problem with my 66 Wildcat... Once it seems to get warmed up.. when i am driving on the freeway... all the power goes..and the car almost stalls.. then i put it in neutral.. drive about 2 more minutes.. then it does it again.. I pull off the road.. and it drives fine.. in the lil areas... but on the open road.. its just not doing anyhting for me.. My car is a 1966 Buick Wildcat.. with the 401.. and the s/t 400 automatic tranny... any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jp,
    Welcome aboard! :beer
Assuming that everything else is in good shape, I think that I would check your fuel delivery system first.
Stuck choke, clogged filter, bad pump, etc. :TU:

I checked the fuel pump.. and the fuel system and everything seems to be ok. I put a new fuel filter on just for pete's sake.. and it starts up fine.. drives.. then when i get it on the straight away... it starts goin out again.. i put it in Neutral.. then it revs up.. i put it back in gear.. then it starts to go again.. maybe a good tune up will help.. i sure wish i knew what it was. Thank you for the advice though.. one thing i did notice though.. was it only really does it when the fuel tank is at about 1/4 tank or below.. anyone else ever have this problem?

Could be a problem with the pick up in the tank. You're not really being clear on when it happens though. Does it happen sometimes when the tank is over 1/4? If it does, I would replace the fuel pump. They are cheap enough, and easy to put in. When they start to go, they can't pump enough fuel to keep the car accelerating at highway speeds. BTW, if you go to the user CP, and click edit profile, you can put your name and list your car(s) in the signature section, so that when you post, your name will appear.

I went and filled up the tank with 91octane.. put the lead additve.. then drove on a straight away... still did it.. So i will replace the fuel pump this afternoon... see how that goes... Thank you for all the help.. i am still new to the buick world... but i am loving it.
