I need a set of Upper "A" arm bushing boots and retaining rings for a 64 Skylark. I want do dissassmble the upper "A" arms to sand blast, but as soon as I clip the retainig ring on the boots I think they will disintegrate.
    Thanks Bruce

The upper A-arm boots and retaining ring can be removed without clipping the retaining ring--I have done it lots of time and never torn one yet. You just have to take your time and slowly pry up on the retaining ring with a screw driver and work it and the boot off the ball joint together. Once you get it off, you can clean the boot and the retaining ring and put them back on. Put the boot on first, then work the retaining ring down over it. It goes easier if you soak it all in WD-40 before you try to put it on.
