I'm looking for all the door/window/trunk weatherstripping for a 73 Electra 4-door no post. I found a couple kits that sell stripping for a pair of doors at over $200 a set and think there must be a better source. Is anybody selling the molding at a better price or in a more complete kit?

Are any of the moldings common to more popular cars that I may be able to snag at a better rate?

I have a '76 Olds 98 with the same needs. A guy at a car show told me that the weatherstrips are the same as a Caprice and that the should be easy to get. I have found reminants of caprices, centurions, 98s, and the big pontiacs(whatever they were called) in junk yards, and they are defintly similar enough to be interchangable even through the year range. Each year seemed to all be the same but year to year there were sometimes slight differences to the rubber even though the body seemed unchanged.
I have yet however to find each piece of rubber. I have found a few, but the best bet is to get a hold of a weatherstrip companies universal/custom book, or better yet go to their store or booth with the reminants of your old stuff and match it up as close as you can.

The trunks are the easiest to find as they make so many and they are availible by the foot in most cases.

The '70s 4 door HT rubbers are not availible as far as I've found... but even if they were, $200 is about right... Lutty chevy shows 65-68 Impala/caprice 4 door rubbers for $80 for the front set and $90 for the rear. We got twice as many doors so I guess its fair that we pay twice as much! Not to mention, in comparison with the 2 door crowd, we are not even on the markets radar.:ball:

Steelerubber makes pretty much every piece needed. It's pricey, but I'm going to get the parts a few at a time to spread out the cost. Door sweepers are like $180 for the set of 4, and that's just the outside of the doors :Dou:
