Is anyone on the forum familiar, know anything about the history, authenticity of this car? I do see some iffy stuff but this is what I’ve been looking for a long time. A red/white 69 stage 1 convertible but it has to be #matching and some docs to prove it’s the real deal. So far I got some numbers that are hard to make out on the block no visible RS stamp. Has BB trans. I’m not local to the car.
That’s a high price and a useless video. Photos are damn near useless, too. Both are supiciously useless in my opinion-understandable from a novice owner, suspicious from a dealer. For that money it not only needs its original engine and trans but also correct distributor and carburetor (not mentioned in the ad or useless video) along with a correct booster and master and enough photos a person can see the details, originality and/or quality of restoration. It looks like it could be a well maintained driver (note the headers, too), but there’s a lot of money between ‘driver’ and $83k. Some actual photos of the rust prone areas, inside the trunk, etc., pictures of the trim tag, any documents like the build sheet or Protecto Plate, the VIN so it can be searched, close ups of the carpet, door panels, chrome, and on and on. Be wary, and good luck! Patrick
Thanks Pat. Price is high for sure. The guy doesn’t even know where to begin looking for numbers. I requested pictures of some of the same areas you hit on too. I’ve been watching for many years for this color combo. I’ve only seen one that had the block decked. I agree for the price there should be a lot more information, pics, documentation. Sounds like a waste of my time to go look at. I couldn’t even get a clear answer if the car is on consignment or do they own it.
If someone isn't willing to provide pics and info , something is definitely up . Also because it is in Arizona it doesn't mean the car spent its life there. Just like the 69 Stage I ragtop that was for sale on Ebay a couple years ago. Arizona car that had the floor pans replaced. Lol .Think it sold for low 20s . Could be the same car for all I know.
Write-up says "owner claims" re: mileage would lead me to believe a consignment. For that kind of $, it should be a very well restored or a super low mileage/excellent survivor example. I can even understand overpaying a little if it's what you really want but...
You can contact the owner direct it’s for sale on cars online for 75K. Price is high, this car was for sale Out of New York about four or five years ago.
Thank you fellas for all the input and knowledge. I appreciate it very much. I’m going to hang tight take the advice and Pass on this one and wait for the right one to come along.
I keep thinking it’s this car but the way the front end and the rear bumper is hung. As well as some of the stuff in the engine bay. I mean how many red pearl white, white top convertible stage 1’s are out there. In this video the guy clearly states he has a period correct engine/trans. Which I maybe ok with but NOT a anywhere near that price. I passed on a blue 69 stg 1 convert at 51k for that reason
Looks like it could be two different cars, the car you posted in your video has speakers in the doors. Under the hood is a little different in each picture.
17% of 69 GS ragtops were Signal Red. So if the percentage was at that for the Stage 1 auto convertibles , it would mean 22 were built. It would break down even more with white bucket full console interior. So yeah they are few and far between.
