From what I understand, my hood hinges and latch are supposed to be plated with grey phosphate. This is beyond me right now financially, so I was just going to rattle-can them for now... but it occurred to me that I have a big tub of Calyx exhaust manifold dressing hanging out in the ol' beer fridge. I got really gorgeous results out of this stuff on my manifolds, and it seems like more or less the right color... Has anyone had tried it on bare-steel applications to get a grey phosphate sort of look? Should I just go for it, and post pictures of the ensuing success/failure?
