Just wondering if anyone could help me out on the identity of my old cam out of a 70 455. The numbers off the end are as follows: HI 228/3000 2S-12 BN 1757, it also has the letters CRA in it. I didn't know if these letters represented a Crane cam or not. I searched on Crane's site, but it did'nt show any match. Any help would be great, thanks.

Did a little search for that cam and found our very own Kurt "Wolfgang" Peterson has a build up on the Buickperformance.com site with that cam.
Has the specs listed as :

    228* intake duration @ .050" lift
    240* exhaust duration @.050" lift
.480" intake lift ( no rocker ratio listed)
.500" exhaust lift ( no rocker ratio listed)
    112* Lobe Center

Don't know what your set-up is, but it sounds like a nice street Hyd grind.

Thanks Al, this is a cam that was in a 455 .030 over and around 10:1 comp. I'm rebuilding that motor now to a 12:1 aluminum head set-up and thus going up a couple of cam sizes. I may run that old cam and lifters in another motor down the road or try to sell it.
Al, did you happen to see who the manufacture of that cam was? Thanks, Jim

According to the article at the Buickperformance site, it's a Crane cam. Looking at their website though, I see they no longer offer Buick cams... :Do No:
