I have a cam that was bought many years ago and never used. Was hoping someone could help me out . I don't remember what rpm range this cam works in and what valve springs are recomended. And are stock rockers ok?
    Here are the specs.

    Lunati
    SP1-238-248 grind#
    lift .492 in. .492 ex.
    duration at .050 238 in. 248 ex.
    lobe separation TDC 112
    center line 108

    Thanks for any help

    Kevin,
You could call Lunati, and give them the number off the cam and they could answer all your questions:Smarty:

I think he tried that and had little luck.He even tried the web site too and I believe they didn't list anything on there either.

    Kevin,

That is viturally a duplicate to the 290-08H from TA.

I would suggest dual valve springs, set at 125 on the seat, 300 open pressure.

Stock rockers will be ok, for the occasional blast up into the higher rpm.

I would rate that cam as a very good performer from 2500-6000

But it is the biggest cam you will put in a street car, and run the brakes.. search the board here, and you will find numerous posts about it.

    Good luck,

    JW

Kevin - Take a look at the ChicagolandBuick.org cam chart by Charlie Evans.

That looks like an old Torque Tech grind (Lunati did Keith's cams). Look at the specs on the SP235 cam.

Thanks Jim thats what i wanted to here. The 2500 to 6000 is what i was looking for and its not that often any of my cars ever see that rpm anyways.
Also thanks Scott your right this was a Torque Tech cam. You guys answered all my questions .

A better choice for the typical GS would be TA's 288-94H

We just made 480 HP and 550 Torque with that cam, and it has a real nice idle.

I certainly can feel the difference between the two cams in the car, the extra 30-40 HP or so from the bigger cam does make a pretty good seat of the pants feel difference, but as with everything, it's a trade off.

I trust you did get those long lost armrest backing plates, sorry for the delay on those, as it's been a rough year with the plastic stuff.. but things look like they are going to turn around here shortly with those parts.. for the better..

Jim ,yes Thank you and i did receive the armrest backing plates. I guess in the end all that mattered was just to get them done. And I'm glad to here things are looking better with getting that type of things done.
One more question that has to do with the cam. With the cam mentioned above. And some minor head work,b4b ,headers ,convertor and 3.90 gears can this get me into the low 12's.? I just want to get to the low 12's and run consistant
