I have a 69 skylark with a 455 with a recent rebuild approx. 500mi. on it drives great but i put basically a stock cam back in would just like more torque and hp but still streetable no wild loping, here is what it has done to it block is 1976 era-stage 1 heads fresh rebuild 3 angle valve job- edlebrock performer intake-edlebrock 750 carb-10-1 comp. pistons- and poston headers.Like i said it drives great just would like more umph, no dyno #'s and that is not what i want from this car anyway mainly crusin and car shows but i would like to light em up once in a while (I have gn for the all day burn) maybe i should just call edlebrock to have cam match thier intake any input would be appreciated. :3gears:

go to taperformance.com or postonbuick.com and skim over the descriptions that they give of their cams to get an idea of what you want then call and get the advice of their tech people. The descriptions that they give will give you a good idea of the power range, streetability and compatibility of the cam with stock or modified components. Resist the urge to over-cam it :Smarty:

I have Poston's 113A cam and love it. It does have a nice lope, but nothing that's going to rattle your teeth out. Car idles at about 850 in park and 800 in gear. Plenty of vacuum for my power brakes.

I've had real good results with cams from Scott Brown at StraightLine Performance in Okemos MI. 517-381-8801. He has a real good street grind 226-238 or will get a custom grind for you.

You might want to verify the compression ratio. What year are the heads? Good to know the actual cr before selecting a cam.

Dave, What kind of idle do you get with that cam? Does it have good vacuum? I hear your car is going to be in the new shootout against the Hemi. Do us proud and show those overpriced tin cans for what they are!

Soory about the delay on this. The idle with the 226-238 is very good, slight lope, good vacuum, good street manners but pulls real good to 5000-5300 depending on the compression, head porting etc. With stock manifolds and NO porting on the heads shift at 5200.

I have a H218-228/112+4 club cam I will sell. Operates in the 1500 to 5200 rpm range. Cost me for cam and lifters $219 plus shipping which I believe was around $10.00 It was in my 455 long enough to break it in. Decided to go bigger. Its like brand new and has the lifters marked to go back on the lobes they were broke in on. $145.00 plus shipping.
    Thanks Bob H.

I say good luck as I know the Hemi guys will bring a ringer to the race . They cannot afford to loose again . What would people say ? What about all those million dollar hemis that we continually see touted on TV ? How will magazines like Hot Rod spin this one if a Buick wins it ? I would hope you have some Gessler heads and a stroker kit in there cause they will .
