Ok, on my 70 Skylark 350 I've got a carb that I can't identify. I suspect it was an aftermarket/remanufactured unit bought thru a NAPA or something. It is a 4 Barrel Rochester with 29240MD stamped on it. No tag or other info visible either inside or outside of the carb. The rods are stamped, but the jets are not. I have tried to research it in every way I can think of, but no luck so far. Carb runs well, and has for several years, but a recent rebuild on the motor (11.5/1 comp) has it running lean. So before I can decide to re-jet this thing, or buy something else, I'd like to ID it. What CFM?
If what you are telling me is correct, then I am in good shape with just re-jetting this thing. But may I ask how you know this? Is there a resource out there for this type of info that I just can't find? Thanks.
Yep, you found your resource - V8Buick.com :TU: BTW - We're all friendly around these parts. Please sign your posts with (at least) your first name so we know who we're addressing. Thanks, and welcome to the most comprehensive Buick resource center
Well thank you very much. Yeah, this place is great. I wish I had found it sooner. I was referred here by someone on the Turbo Buick site. Owning both a GN and and old-school Buick, I need both resources. I am fighting a cooling problem on the Lark, which cooled fine before the rebuild. Got the radiator down at a shop being checked out, just ordered new hoses, and am going to fix the lean condition by working with the carb. After that, if I still have a problem I will either try a new fan clutch or go electric. All pointers that I got from surfing this site. Ya see, you guys help people without even knowing it. Mike
