Billy, that is great news! I am happy to hear that you got your car back. I know others have mentioned this too, but I felt sick to my stomach to hear of your beautiful car (and rig) being stolen. Even though there wasnt much I could do on my end besides ray: I wanted to help. I also want the other cars and rigs to be safely recovered. Keep us updated
Car stiil assembled, that's great news Billy. I hope they find your truck and all the dirtbags involved. What a horrible trip.
If you value your car and the car is valuable then consider LOJACK. The cops are the container termial all the time chasing a signal. We unstack export containers until they find the one and bang, they cut the seal and guess what there is someone's BMW, Porsche, Vette. Happens several times a month. Whole cars are exported out under false papers on a daily basis. Some guy says he is exporting scrap stainless or something like that, a broker doesn't care enough to ever see the cargo and off it goes. US Customs do not give a crap what is leaving, ever. Try and bring something in and you are toast. There has been a yellow vette convertible, pretty new, setting on the dock in Galveston under customs bond for several weeks now, They have been going over that bad boy for weeks and i am betting it was stolen here in the US, shipped overseas, paperworked doctored and vin changed and they tried to ship in back in. It has foreign plates on it that i do not recognize.
I will say it here also Ronnie, stop the crap about inside job and someone who attended the event and in the Buick community. It is not just me and my clown friend that sees your antics and what you are trying to say. Of course it was someone that most likely attended the event. They staked out the cars and trailers while there during the race. I guess the gate people should be holding interrogations of all passing through the gates, huh? How can you legitimately blame this on someone inside the Buick community? That idea is said for your purpose of negativity toward this event only. The Buick community is far above doing such an act. Evidence is plain and clear that the car was still in tack. The thieves had no idea of what made this car run so fast. They were probably looking for the nitrous bottle and thought WTF, this is only a V6 ! We got the wrong car ! That must be 1/8th mile times on the windows ! And then got bitch slapped by one of the ring leaders when they were saying, "you freaking idiot, my grandma has one of the Buicks that she grocery shops in". Needless to say, your actions here are seen just as well for your intentions. No needing to read between lines. On the subject of the car theft. I too am super glad that Billys car was found and I hope the scumbags are all rounded up. I will definately be looking to put a tracking device in my vehicles soon. I know there are several types to choose from. I just need to figure out where and how I can best configure the system. Hopefully nobody else in the community has to live this nightmare again. Mike
Mike, You seem to have a problem translating and processing what you read. Go back, read it again, better yet have someome read it and explain it to you. The perp is in custody and as time goes on this stolen car event will unfold for all to see. 'Till then I am entitelled to my opinion, you are not my censor. Good day Mike.
I agree with Ron at this time. These people just didnt show up the the GS Nats without prior knowledge. I would HOPE that these theives are not related to the Buick community. There are theives in any community doesnt matter what brand. If they were buick guys Lord help them, they wont be safe to be at any event in the future thats for sure.
I would say that there is a definite connection to the Buick community. Not somebody well known or that has been active for a long time, but there most likely a connection to someone that attends the races. Although it was recovered in Michigan (Detroit ???), I was thinking the west side of Chicago was another possible spot that it would be found.
Sounds like the perp they have in custody is singing like a Canary! Hardened criminals are tough to crack, maybe this was someone who wanted to upgrade his car to an 8 second ride on Billys dime. Leaving a stolen car in a backyard doesn't sound like a professional ring to me. Just my opinion ! :bla:
"Hardened criminals" talk alot more than most of them would like us to think. It has been my experience that they will sell each other out for a deal in a second. When I worked narcotics, it was not uncommon for guys to provide information on life long friends, and even family, to get a bit of a break/plea deal. The thought of time in prison can be great motivation.
Only that the truck is intact and they were trying to retag it. So we'll find out when Billy posts with more info on the what, where and when.
Man, what great news that it all has been recovered. I think the perps name and picture should be posted so if any of us see them at any more events they can be "kindly asked" to leave. Fool us once, shame on you, try again, you're a dead man... I hope it wasnt someone in the "Buick community", but Id say its definitely in the realm of possibility. It was almost definitely someone with some car knowledge to know a pricey piece when they see one. Has there been any word on the others that were taken??(thought there were a couple more swiped??)
