I imagine some of you guys/gals have seen this article before but i just stumbled upon it and wanted to share it with those that haven't.

Remember the original Buick 455 Build up from Car Craft?
    Heres that link first: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/72278/index5.html

Heres the link to the final results summary: :TU: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/72278/index.html

"Yes, We'd Rather have a Buick!" Should have been the caption.

Funny thing though, It was only stated in one sentence that "In terms of raw peak numbers, the Buick 455 performed the best"

Man, one would think they would have had more to say about the winner, Dont you think?

If it were the Dodge that one, I'm sure there would have been a whole page write up about it... Geez...

Well, the writing's on the wall. We are indeed, a proud bunch! :3gears:

PS: And whats this "Dare we declare a winner?" all about anyway?...

Pft, the olds 455 is the worst? They didn't overbore and it had the lowest compression. They're new format reminds me of a bad 80's import magazine as well.

each of these engines got more than a whole page write up during the months before the final results.....
as far a raw peak numbers, the mopar actualy was better by close to 20 with torque, but the buick had it by more than that in hp....it's been a while since i read that, but didn't the buick cost around 1k more to build than the mopar, which was the next closest?
here's an article they did on a cheap rebuild 455; more pub than most mags give it: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_9906_bu/index.html
they did overbore the olds, but it still has the smallest dia....and they kept the stock deck height which is why the compression was low.....

Most people forget another thing,at the end,it was Buick by 27? HP,then they made a decision to up carburetion,so they went from a 750 Demon to an 850 Demon. The all lost power, except for Buick, which gained another 30 horses.Bruno.
