Love the color:TU: I am usualy not a fan of the big wheels small tire thing, but I will admit on a car that size it looks ok
Im not gonna comment on like/dislike of the hoops, but I am curious as to how you found the ride after the swap. Was it much harsher ? ... very pretty car and Welcome to V8Buick !! :beers2:
It was a very very deep purple base coat. It came with a 430 and it was knocking and I had a buddy that wrecked his 72 lesabre about a month before so I bought the engine from him and put it in. I cant exactly tell how much of a difference because I could never really get on the old motor. My next plans are to put a tall gear in the rear for the bigger wheels to turn better. I am also debating on getting my valves bigger on my heads and some flat tops or getting some aluminum ones from t/a and get flat tops. I have built this car from basically nothing. When I got it , it didnt have seats or anything. I had to get seats then get a new top. I know a lot of people dont like the rims and the way I did this car but it is mine for one and for two I have a 72 skylark that is my street car so I like all different types of cars from lowriders to muscle cars. I really appreciate anyone who has good things to say about my car even if they dont understand or really like what I did but just to appreciate the work and the love that I put in my BUICK. Thank you all. ......Will be posting skylark soon.
The wheels and tires aren't my thing, but the car was done very nice. Nice work on the paint and interior. You certainly didn't try and cut any corners on the work you did and it's not too in your face. I'll bet the paint looks nice in person.
Nice car with a different look. The wheels dont look that bad. We cant all have the same wheels. That would be boring!
Nice car, sorry I just don't like the tire/rims though. It kills the car to me. If you like them and there your thing that's all that counts.
... still curious as to if you feel the ride quality with those rims/tires changed at all, and if so how ?
Welcome to V8 Scotty. I have a love for the 69 Duece-N-A-Quarter convertibles. Your paint is awesome but I don't think those hoops would survive NYC streets. Nice look you got goin' on there. Here's a picture of my bone stock cruiser.................
It rides good on nice roads. It rides better than one would think but as soon as I get on a road that is a little rough, I do feel the rims. Ive had it on the highway at 130 and it was smooth. I think it rides ok because I havent messed with suspension. I have another car I lowered and it has 20s with a littler meatier tire(35 series) and you can really feel the ride difference. The rims I have on are 26s with a 275/25/26 tire. The 25 series is the smallest tires so I usually cruise and I watch for bumps and potholes very carefully. I think the reason that people think that the cars on big wheels ride rough is because you see those cars bouncing around and its because they lift them up and stretch the suspension out that it makes a really bouncy ride. Ive rode in a few cars like that and its the suspension that makes the ride so horrible and makes the car go all over the road.
I really really like that car Tufbuick. Even though mine is all custom, I love the stock look. When I was doing mine, I had to search for every single part plus the engine was knocking, so I just went with something different. I wanted it to stand out but still look decent and not too over the top.
