Who is going to the BOPC car show in Old Town (Kissimmee, Florida) this coming Saturday. They are expecting about 200 cars based on pre-registration. My wife and I will be there with our 65 Skylark "sleeper" (that is until I crank it up). Hope to see some of you Buick guys there so Buicks will have a strong showing. Buicks will already be the fastest cars there, but hopefully will be the most plentiful. There is a Saturday night cruise after the show.
i'll be there, in the swap meet. I always try to get down to those it should be lots of fun, c-ya there
Just an update. I was at the show with my GS and I got to meet Randy. Nice lookin' '65 he's got there. I really dig the dog dish caps. There were also several other nice Buick's there. That's it for me and car shows for awhile. :boring: If i'm going to trailer my car somewhere, I'm gonna race it. :3gears: Have fun.
I was planning on going, since I was going to be stuck in Tampa for the weekend. But then our project schedule slid, and I had the chance to go home and see my girlies or stay around tampa and go to the show. Alas, cars still come second to something. Anyway, decent swap meet? nice cars? Just curious, since I'll plan on going next year. (Reasons for not going before: poor grasp of my home states geography -- thought the show was somewhere around ocala for whatever reason. o No: ) -- Steve
Jeff Nice meeting you. Thanks for the kind words about my 65 Lark. Hope you had a good time even if there wasn't any racing Steve Sorry you missed the show. I thought it was pretty good. I think they had about 270 cars. Some really great looking Buicks. Richard Lassiter was there with a 70/72 GS convertible that was really nice. I think it belong to someone he drove to the show with. Hope you can make it next year.
it was a great show, lots of nice cars, there wasn't much in the swap meet, i did see you '65 sleeper ( very nice )but evry time i was there , Their wasn't anyone there , I also took i long look at jeffs car very nice , I'm sorry i missed you guys, but it was alot of fun, hope too see all you guys next year.
Doug I don't have any photos of the 65 Lark, but if you go to the Member's List, look up member "tntlark" (Joe M.), go to posts started by "tntlark" and look at the 9-22-03 post. There are several photos of the car there. Joe did a really good job of putting that car together.
Yeah I did. Maybe I was too harsh by saying "boring". I've been attending that show on and off for about 12 years, now. Three friends of mine go about every year, so I go to see them and maybe meet new people. I'm just used to the intensity of racing, and car shows are more relaxing. I was going to ask you if you drove your '65 there or did you trailer it. That thing would probably be a handful going down the highway. It would be fun, though! Have fun.
Jeff I trailered it to Kissimmee which is about 300 from Tallahassee. That thing requires racing gasoline, get about 6 miles to the gallon and at $5 or more per gallon the only place the 65 is driven is to cruise night a couple of times a month. The price of racing gasoline here really gripes me. You can only get it at race shops or parts houses. Last month I was in Wisconsin and bought 25 gallons of 110 at a service station and paid $3 per gallon. Last year I was in Chicago and filled up at $3 per gallon. I just don't understand it. It looks like the big oil companies are taking advantage of us dumb old southern boys.
I didn't realize you came all the way from Tallahassee. I see why you trailered. That could get expensive real quick. I gripe some about the price of race gas, but then I think pretty soon the price of pump gas is going to catch up! I pay $4.25/gal for Sunoco 110 here in town. If you buy it at the track it's $1 MORE per gallon. After reading the plugs on my last trip to the track I think I need better quality fuel. I'm planning to try VP C12 and see if it helps. It sells for around $7/gal, though. Some of the fuels used in Super Stock and Pro Stock, like VP C25 and ERC, sell for as much as $20/gal! The price of racing fuel is not really affected by the price of oil. Because there is no organic "crude stock" in racing gas. It is entirely man-made. The price is more the result of the chemical market prices. Race gas is a whole science in itself. Have fun.
