I have a 94 Saturn and this morning I got in my car and cranked it and I noticed it started a little sluggish, so I ran to a few places and finally I was at a parking lot and It did not start at all. I can't even hear clicking noise. My battery cables are fine no corrosion, and the lights are not dimming while attempting to start it. I changed all the spark plugs and noticed oil in there so we cleaned it out. It still wont start. Could it be a faulty starter? Any advice will help.
I would try replacing the battery first. Is it a no crank or no start? It sounds like the battery to me if it won't crank. If the battery is 4-6 years old, thats about all you can hope for. Cold weather lowers a battery's efficiency, and if its borderline, that's all she wrote.
Sounds like your charging system ain't up to snuff. So - it's Battery or Alternator, one. You'll need to get it running somehow to check, or you could pull the alternator and take it to Autozone and have them bench test it. Good Wrenching! James
Are you certain the battery cables are good? I do not mean "check the connectors", I mean, are you sure there isn't a worn spot on the positive cable that is discharging your battery to ground? Happened on my Regal, 2 year old cables, and one got worn somehow, down by the starter. The battery cable was arcing to the frame and killed two batteries.
Probably a Delco sealed battery. Look carefully at the sides of the battery for signs of pregnancy which indicates a fatal internal failure. It happens with little or no warning.
