Dang Phoenix.. I bit out of my area.. By chance do you of anybody that has old cars / trucks of that era.. Its ignition that means its not buick specific most anyone that has a up to Mid 80s Chevy ford or even dodge truck can help.... Reality the basic system to get it to run is pretty easy.. tune it right A bit more intense. Dont give up,,, walk away when the blood pressure starts to rise.
I knew I guy that had a 67 skylark but unfortunately he retired from the military and left the base. Other than that I don’t know anyone else out here. I will get a new set of plugs and I’ll see if they warranty out the coil and wires and hopefully she starts. I’m pretty sure I put the dizzy in right this time around Larry, same thing as yesterday blew my finger off the hole and then I just had to turn it with the breaker bar to the 0 on the tab.
Thank you for the tips, that’s one thing I was iffy about is stepping on the accelerator too much I get paranoid about flooding the engine but if that’s what I need to do then I’ll give it a try possibly later today or tomorrow when I’m off work.
Hey Larry, just a thought. When I got stranded on the road I was messing with the carburetor and it’s screws could that possibly have an effect on the initial starting?
Everything, I was going wild! It was midnight on a dark road. The two screws on the front and the side screw idle screw?
Oh boy. So you have a quadrajet right? Turn each of the front two screws in all the way until they seat lightly, don't turn them in hard at all, just until they don't want to spin. Then, back them both out 2.5 turns each Set the side idle screw by backing it out all the way until it is not touching the throttle. Move it back in until it touches the throttle, then add one to two turns to lift the throttle blades slightly. This is no end all be all solution, but it should get the car running.
Probably a 2 barrel Rochester, just the front two barrels of a Quadrajet(a Dualjet), should probably work anyway
Did you simply adjust the screw nearest the throttle cable? Or the Idle Needle, Figure 64-15 in the chassis Service Manual. Until it really tries to start these should be much worry.
Video #2 seemed close to starting to me. The distributor needs to be slowly moved to start it. A little gas in the top is helpful usually I have found.
The idle screw that on the drivers side and the two screws that are facing the front of the car, no sir has not started yet
Hey, Jimmy - my offer still stands if you want an extra set of hands/eyes. I can’t be more than 20-30 minutes away. Bob
Larry/Jason. Can he screw in the front two idle screws all the way in and back them both out 2 1/2 turns for a starting position?
I would love a helping hand Bob. I just wouldn’t wanna take you away from family. But I’ll definitely take you up on your offer if you’re free this weekend, I work aircraft maintenance so when I get home the last thing I really wanna do is pick up another tool. Thank you very much for the offer Bob or let me know what works best for you
