Hey guys. I am using a q-jet on a TA perf. intake on a GS 350. I have a great running carb that has the mechanical type choke correct for the 71 GS 350 cars. I was just going to use a manual choke on it but got to thinking that there might be an electric version I could retrofit.

Anybody have any thoughts or experiences with this??

You can indeed put the electric choke on the older mechanical choke carb. There are some minor mods necessary. I've done this twice with success. My crappy digital camera won't take the close up pictures I'd like, to show you the differences. You'll need a donor quad for the big round choke body, throttle shafts, and all the high idle linkage. Once you see both of them together you'll figure out what needs to be done. Good luck!
