    Hi Guys.
Can anyone help me out with a few suggestions for my new carb? I have a rebuilt 1972 800CFM Quad, # 7042240. Have no idea what is in there for jets and rods. I am planning to send it to John , when I get all my final mods together, but I do want to put it on. I would like some baseline help. I have a 70 GS Stage 1 with a Poston 113 cam. My heads are iron stage 1 factory, a bit cleaned up. In the next weeks, I will be putting headers and the clubs power X exhaust on it. I have a Pertronics Igniter II on it now and 3:64 gears and automatic trans. This winter I am going to put on a Performer intake and have Greg Gessler port match and massage it. I have "CC" secondary rods in the original carb on her now. Can someone give me a hand with primary and secondary jets, and rods? Should I stagger jet?
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards, John.

John Osborne will jet it for you. That is the carb on my car now. John jetted mine with 76 jets, 46B rods, and BG secondary rods. A stock 7042240 has 73 jets, and 44B rods with CT secondary rods. He did not stagger jet it. Just give John all the info on your buildup, and he will jet it right.

    Thanks Larry.
Will John give me this info over the phone and send me what I need, or do I have to send it to him to have him do it? Do you think that rebuilt carb would be that far off? In your opinion, should I wait to install it after I send it to him? Would my stock 650 Quad w/ "CC" secondary rods be better than the unknown 704220?
    Regards, John.

    John,
I don't think he will give you the info over the phone, that's what you pay for, his expertise. When you add headers, you usually need to jet up some. The CC rods are very rich. I would jet the rebuilt carb. You can try it the way it is now, but I think jetting it will give the best performance with the upgrades you plan. Try jetting it like mine.

    O.k. Larry.
I will jet it like yours, using your rods and jets. If you think that those "cc" are richer than I need, I will leave them in my 7040246 650.

On another note, I have developed a pin hole in my new aluminum rad. It is where they weld the tank to the core, on the drivers side. It is in the welded area. Wow, after all I have been thru with them, this is the last thing I wanted to happen. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. I hope it can be fixed locally, i really don't want to send it back to them. :ball:
    Regards, John.
