My brother has a 1970 Skylark custom that is in need of a new carburetor. I am not very familiar with the small block and I need to know what size carb to get. I know that the stock carb is a 750CFM Q-jet. Should I stick with a 750CFM carb? He wants to get a Holley or an Edelbrock? What do you guys suggest? What aftermarket carbs are you guys running? Would a 670CFM Holley Street avenger carb work? Or, would I need the 770CFM street avenger? The only modifications to the car are a TA aluminum intake and new set of flowmasters with 2-1/2" pipe all the way back. Still have the stock exhaust manifolds.

Stick with the Q-jet. Buicks like a lot of fuel. A nice 750 will do the trick. Street avengers are no better than an ordinary Holley. The plating is nice, but they are far from ready to run as they claim. I put one on my dad's vette and had to change jets, power valves, and discharge nozzles. The initial float settings were so far off I had to remove the bowls and reset them myself. Don't know much about Edelbrocks, but I am a firm beleiver in the Q-jet.
