Very nice, on 92 pump gas too. 1-7/8” or 2” headers?

Nice solid street piece! It's incidentally within 1 hp and 4 lb/ft of my engine. I've got some port work done and slightly more cam but less compression. He ought to be really happy with that setup, makes for a fun but not too radical to be a pain street car!

Nice combo but over 11-1 on pump gas with 34 deg scares me.....esp in hot weather.

Cruising is one thing but really getting into it is another....

it has aluminum heads, there are several factory motors with 11:1 that run pump gas

Shift that thing at 5500 and it will last a L-O-N-G time!!

    Very nice build!

So which cam is that, TA 290-08H?

And those engines have knock sensors and computer controlled timing to adjust for those situations.
The accepted bump in comp for alum heads is .8
Bruce is right to express concern for that engine under the right conditions, it probably will be ok, it has quite a bit of camshaft for that power level, which helps it blow off part throttle/mid rpm cylinder pressure. That part throttle high load knock is what really kills them, more so than the High rpm stuff.. and those cam specs should help prevent or lessen that.
Customer is going to have to be very sensitive to spark knock, or mix fuel.. but he may already know that..

Jim he is aware of that . It will never be run this hard .
Timing will also be turned down in the car . 100 octane is the option for gas as well . I realize that .

We also ran it at 30 & 32 seemed to like 34

Good to hear Nick, I figured you had it covered... ya, it's rare when I find a BBB that does not like 34*..

I agree with aluminum heads 34....but iron IMO like 30-32 max to avoid detonation at full throttle.
With aluminum 38 with 4 degrees of retard after 5000rpm is what I ran to get a 1.31 60 foot and good mph. But for day in day out racing I use 34 retarding to 30. Kills .04 in 60 ft but easy on motor.

Jim I think the sweet spot on these mild builds between 32 on 34 depending on heads and gas cam etc

That's some nice power there and not complicated at all.

Another thing to remember is that dyno controlled conditions where water temp is 155 deg or less, you can get away with more timing. A hot day on the road after running in traffic it will usually be 30+ deg warmer.

Bruce thats why I wont be tuning this to 34 . This most likley it will get a Holley EFI installed , timing dialed back with mixed Sunoco 100
