    I'm no carpenter but my daughter wanted built in shelves. I found a hack using Ikea shelves and added some trim to make them look like built in shelves. I think it turned out pretty good. She wasn't happy with the filler panels on the sides but wouldn't let me split the extra space between the 4 units. I asked her if I could put it all on one side and make a little broom closet. Also vetoed that. At least I put fillers across the top to keep from losing things in the empty cavity.
