I just received this in a email from someone @ the TN Association of Realtors and thought i'd pass it on. I've already called the number listed below.

    Here it is:
In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to
telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls on
    your cell phones.

Call this number from your cell phone (1-888-382-1222). It is
the national Do Not Call list. It blocks your number for 5 years. You
must call from your cell phone. It took me just one minute to do. You
may want to distribute this information to your friends and family.

I had heard of this a few weeks ago. I registered both mine and my wifes. Also registered my home phone. Although, we still get fax call @ 11:00pm about once every 4 months. Very annoying :af:

Registered a couple of months ago. Still get calls. Heard the telemarketers found some kind of loophole. :Do No:

I think it takes some time for new phone #'s to get circulated. I registed my home phone last year, and it has worked great for us.

That Email is complete BS.... Telemarketers cannot call cellphones unless you give them the number as there is no directory for the numbers. There are rumors about some sort of directory for Cell phones... misunderstood.... a directory will exist but only for VOLUNTARY requests. You'll have to fill out a form (probably more detailed than your contract) to have it listed (for those who use cell phones for buisness purposes).

As it stands now.. and probably till the end of time (or untill cell phone carriers stop charging for incomming calls alltogether.... haha, good luck), They can't get your number.

Now, they can get your number if you give it to someone... say for example, Kmart. Then Kmart sells a list of "Kmart customer numbers" to telemarketing agencies. Then you'll get some calls. Bottom line is never hand out your number unless they explicitly state that they will not sell or give it out to anybody else. Cause your cellular carrier will never hand it out either!!! Trust me, they don't want the headache from the cust. complaints.

Reply to that email and call them a F'n LIAR.

I work for a cell co. and you can tell that I have to answer this question on a frequent basis because of some punk with nothing better to do than start chain emails. Heck, I can't even look up your number unless you give it to me first...lol, what the He!! are these guys thinking.

But if you're in the habit of handing out your cell number to every buisness that asks for it, then registering on that list is probably a good idea. I can't hurt (unless someone hacks that database :Dou: )
