Wandered through the local junk yard here in Decatur IL. Seen 2 67 or 68 Electras. Had motor and all the body panels. Probly average condition for a junk yard find. Had (carrying) my three year old son with me so i could not go off the beaten path to get a closer look. If anyone is interested i may be able to get back down there and get more info on the parts. Its only about ten minutes from my house it is just a question of finding the time.
Brian, Does this yard have any other Buicks? I live in Champaign. We don't have any yards left with anything older than 1990's. I miss the days of wandering through junkyards just looking at old cars. Tom Jenkins
I will try and get out there in the next couple weeks, Tom that is all i seen at Avalible Auto, had a few old Cadilacs and a couple select few of other makers but that was it for Buicks nothing that could interchange. Went a couple of years ago and they had a 70 Skylark but like everything else it was long gone. Stoped by Walstons here talked to them they said they had a couple of "big body" Buicks in the back if i get out there to look ill post the findings for you.
Made it back out there last weekend. Looked a little closer at the cars one had 350 the other had a 430. But unfortunatly after telling me last time they were parting them out now they told me that they are not. So i wandered to the yard next door (Walstons) where the guy told me they do this on a consistant basis they will sit on them and not part them out for four or five years then crush them. Kinda disapointing. But the silver lining is that that yard had a nice (very nice for junkyard) 69 electra 225. Car was 98% complete. Not sure if they are in demand but it did have some huge aluminium brake drums. Also i looked for the washer bottle the yard with 2 had one that was in good shape but the yard that was willing to sell was cracked. Had the pulley on it if you want it PM me. Not trying to make money on it will give it to you for cost he said $10.

Brian, If I understand you correctly, the yard with the '67 is not willing to part it out? Thanks in advance.
Unfortunatly yes you are correct. Its a shame that a junk yard of all placed is not willing to part the cars out and would rather let them rot. They might change there minds in due time but it is hard telling. The more i think about it the more frustrated I get. Your a salvage yard people, not an auto museum.
