some of you might remeber I posted a thread how this kid who has a 71 road runner (383 4 speed), which his dad bought for him, wanted to challenge my 66 Riv (he claims he will leave me in the dust) well we havent reaced yet, I am going to wait till I put my new motor in (the one in there is fairly high mileage) but now he says he can smoke me with eaither his RR or his dads cuda (340 single 4 bbl auto) but it has a really low gear ratio, he says it tops out at like 85-90 so I cant decide which challenge I shoudl accept?
All other things being equal acceleration is a fuction of the power to the weight ratio of the cars. Since your car should weigh a lot more you should lose that match up.
I know a guy thats got a 71 road runner 383 i think its a 4 speed? anyway all he does is bracket racing with it. its got a bit of a cam he wouldnt tell me anything else about it - he runs at 13.45 in the quarter . Hope this helps
i dont know my dad aslways used to tell me about how his brother got really pissed because he would smoke his 327 chelvelle and the chevelle was supposed to have really low gears in it, my friend peter has gone for a ride in both cars and he says he thinks it would be really close, the new motor that i am going to put in it will be built a little port & polished, headers, balenced, recurved dist. HO ignition & coil and then I have 2.5'' dual exhaust so I dunno.
if it were me i wouldnt worry about it until i had my new motor in the car and tuned. far to early to be concerned about it now.
yeah your right, I just have one more question, does anyone have a rough estimate on what the time on the 1/4 would be like if I were to put a 450hp nailhead in the riv?
the old motor youve got in there now - just stick a 300 shot of nitrous into it! :Brow: :Brow: :3gears: you could at least show him your :moonu: until it blew up, then you could blame mechanical failure and vow to never race again :TU:
