Changing rear springs

    Tried to change my rear springs the other day without success. I always heard all you have to do is jack up the rear, disconnect the lower shock mounts, then lower the rear. Well, I did that and when the rear end stopped dropping, I still could not remove the springs. It looks like it was hanging up on the drive shaft. Could my extra long driveshaft and/or cv joint be stopping my rear from dropping enough?

    Yes, loosen the driveshaft. When I dropped the rears on both my Electras the shocks were disconnected and driveshaft too, then the springs were free of the weight of the body. It may take some wrestling to remove them completely, I waited until I unbolted the upper control arms and then they simply fell out. Goodluck :TU:
