I bet most of you thought they never made a 1970 Dodge Daytona. Well, I guess there were three made and one is on Ebay now-and bidding is ONLY at $133000! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2444232066&category=6199 Todd
Oh, a bulls*!% artist:laugh: The nose cone adds 18 inches if I recall correctly. That 1970 Charger Daytona is most likely a late production 1969 1/2 Daytona. To the best of my knowledge, the Charger Daytonas were half year, late 1969 cars, and the SuperBird was a 1970 Model. 500 examples needed to be built, but the cars were not popular when new. Most sat on dealer lots for a long time. I'd guess that this 1970 Charger Daytona would show a build date for a late 1969 model year production run but were called "1970" models.
Pistol Grip shifter it was called,i always thought the Charger Daytona`s vin started with an XX rather than a XS,XS was charger r/t i believe, maybe he`s full of sh@t? Thanks
The purple color started in 1970, as did the pistol grip shifter... the build tag on the fender will tell all tales. could be legit. J
Legend has it that there was 3 70 Daytona's built, but they are not XX coded They were R/T's that were contracted by an outside shop to produce. I love Wing Cars and plan on building a clone eventually. Just don't hang me for wanting one. IF YOUR'E GONNA BEAT A HEMI YOU BETTER HAVE A BUICK!!!
daytona ill tell you one thing. if that were my car it would have more than 20 miles since 1979! i dont understand paying a kings ransom for a car and then putting it in a museum. is it just me or do you guys enjoy your cars more when you drive them? im all for keeping them out of the rain and snow but 20 miles in 24 years?
Well, I can see it both ways, really. If I had something as rare as that, though, I would definitely have enough dough to have the real thing, and then build myself a replica of a Daytona to beat the snot out of
Radical but sleek lines, powerful motor, evil looking stance, almost beautiful enough to be a Buick, perhaps even a Riv...
Here is the first 200mph (Buddy Baker) circle track car. It's wing and snout are removed. Interestingly, I never knew they put the wing and nose on the 71 cars, only the 69 and 70 I thought. Amazing history on that Winged Warrior site. It's been years since I've visited it. Thanks Korrie.
While that is the record breaking car, its been rebodied as a 71. The 71 style did NOT have the nose and tail. Since its the the same chassis that was under the 69 Daytona, its considered the same car.
I was about to bid on this beautiful example of Mopar at its finest - then I noticed the green and white "Interstate" battery. Fuggetaboutit - that battery ain't stock! He's not getting my money!
