  2. That guy has no clue. those are TRW forged replacement pistons. the part number is right in plain sight in the pictures.

    I thought that pistons with the "nipple" in the center were factory cast pistons????? My 455's old pistons look just like that.

    Hum

    They are forged pistons, but the block needs to be taken apart again. I think the rust will hone out, but you never know until all cylinders are cleaned up. The crank has rust too, scotchbrite and clean. I doubt any "rain" got in, that's just what happens to iron after machining, and letting it sit around wayyyyy to long.:Dou:

    Come to think of it...

    TA was selling those pistons for about $7-800 when they were running out, and nobody was making them....So if the shop bought them 1-2 yrs ago, they would charge him about $900 for them. That would ALSO explain the rust, about 1-2 yrs of sitting.:Smarty:
