GET THIS!!!!! I talked to a guy today at _______ racing cams about 8-10 different cams for BBC P/S ers that are real close to he factory cams, but with a few little changes:Brow: . What the rules on spring pressures?o No: but I would like to know thats kind of important when building a factory cam, or do I just need to make sure they're stock appearing springs
Another problem crane rocker arms :af: :af: looks like it could be tough to get stock design rockers, but have no fear comp makes roller tips.:Brow:
No roller tips were discused at the party. Summit long slots are what I run and they still have lots. OF COURSE crane made them so snag them fast.
I never really understood why the chevy guys had to run the #CRN-969961 Blueprinted stock cams, When OTHER cars Don't, and Crane made the #CRN-969681 stock blueprinted RAM AIR 4 cam ????uzzled: o No: o No: Conspiracy MAYBE ???? o No: Birds of a feather FLOCK together.....:moonu:
Didn't see Dan's post on the rules . Guess he's allowing them again. That night he said they were gone. Man think 'm gittin SEA Sick- to much back and forth.
Tim, Pontiac guys do not need Crane and Crane would not have been the correct place to go. We have Melling and Melling made the RA IV cam for PMD back in '69/'70 and still today as it was back then. It is the correct cam for a RA IV. If you like when Dan is freshing my RA IV Judge motor over the next few weeks, as 300 or so passes has it a bit tired, go check out the Melling that comes out of it. It is a fine piece and I have never wiped or heard of wiped lobes on a Melling. Unfortunately it may only be the RA IV guys now who have the correct item available to them. No matter I have never been ashamed of how well the RA IV's run with the Melling. Mighty well I think for heavy cars with minimum cubes compared to the best Chevy, Mopar, Olds and Buick offerings. Mark
We had a Melling '143' blueprint cam in our Yenko Nova go south...was an ugly, ugly site when we opened it up.
Rob don't say those things. I am paraniod enough about cams going south as it happened in one of my motors and a mess is right. I had held out my faith in Melling. Is that to be shaken also? Mark
I think it would be realitively easy to check everyones spring pressure while they have their valve cover off for inspection of their rockers. The spring checker tool has to be cheaper than that "Whistler" thingie used to check the compression too. You wouldn't be able to rev um to the moon with square cams (or even stock cams) if you have stock pressure numbers on the valve springs.....
Guys, bear with me. I don't get on here everyday, so a lot is said between my visits. Tim, you are right, and I stand corrected about the roller tip rockers. Bob and I did tell you and everyone at the shindig meeting that we had decided to NOT allow them. I reviewed my scribblings on the rule sheet, and that is the only change for 2009. I don't know how I missed that! Terry, we don't mention anything about valve springs in the rules. However, just because we don't specifically call out an area of the car or drivetrain, it doesn't give the racers free intrepretation. Our (Bob and I) stand on this is if it isn't mentioned, then it has to be factory stock. Bob and I are incorporating a similar statement into the new rule sheet this year. Sorry about any inconvenience my oversight may have caused! Dan
So what you're saying is....................that you had been cheating for all that time before?? :bla: :bla:
No, what I am saying is I replaced a worn set of stamped steel rockers with new roller tip rockers that were legal last year.......and now I get to replace those with a new set of stamped steel rockers
Join the club.At least you can buy some decent rockers.I understand no full rollers, but a roller tip, when a stock quality replacement is not available, makes no sense to me at all.
