I am in the process of rebuilding a quadrajet using Cliff's book and any other resources I can find. One small issue I have is the choke flap lever. I have attached a pic with two different levers. The one on the right is the original lever, carb part#17080249. The one on the left is from another of the few spare carbs I have. It would seem the left lever with the smaller hole for the flap rod would allow more precise adjustment. The right lever has an enlarged hole and the flap moves around much more. I check my other carbs & some have the large hole & some the small. Now, i don't know if that really is an issue as long as it is adjusted properly. Opinions are welcome, thanks.

I would say the one on the left is for divorced choke, the rite would be electric or stove

The carb I will be installing the lever on is a hot air choke converted to electric. This carb has a primary & secondary pull off. Not sure if that fators into the chioce ..........

You will want the one on the rite. The pull off pulls off all the slack in the obalong shape, the one with the more rounder hole the rod would have a clipado , or clip

for a 249 M4M, it is definitely the one on the right - I've got two untouched 249's on my bench, and they both have the 542 stamping.
