I've made a few purchases this winter, one being a 2001 Chev C3500 crew cab,w/Duramax and Allision trans. The other is a 9ft 6in Lance Slide in Camper. The question is regaurding a hitch extension. I need to extend my hitch about 20 inches.I don't really want to drop the big $$$ on a "correct" extension. My plan is to weld on 2 more reciever tubes,(one on each end) to my existing hitch. Then build a three pronged extension to get back to the bumper on my camper.Weld on a reciever tube to this extension and presto! Done! Is this crazy or what? Any other idea's???I don't want to worry about losing my trailer or worse!!i'll add plating to the frame where the hitch bolts up also,The bolts have a tendency to pull thru the frame I hear.

Wayne, 'ol buddy.... I REALLY don't wanna be the bearer of bad news here....

but, have you installed the slide in yet? if so, how's the frame/bed flex doing....

now, add another 20" cantilever extension, even farther back, to change your pivot point on a double arc frame....

    ya gettin the picture :(

Just when you thought I wasn't listening

I know Jim said his 3500 Duramax was a flexi flier at Bristol '02. Flexed and bucked with the trailer on. GM knew it was a problem and was working on a fix....

He also said if he put a golf ball between the cab and bed then hitch up the trailer.... the ball would fall through.

Similar subject...I talked to a guy last night that said his injection system needed a complete replacement on his Duramax........GM / Dealer said it was bad fuel and would not warranty it! Big big money out of his pocket.

That's a perfect way to give a good engine a bad rap.....
