I was looking for a gas tank at a junk yard, and I think I found some 15 x 7 (have yet to measure) Rally wheels. The chrome is a bit rusty, but not pitted. I imagine some steel wool will take car of that, but don't know how bad is "bad." Also, there is surface rust on the inside of the wheel (the center area, normally hidden by the tire, not where the bead sits). Since this isn't a contact area, it should be no problem. I was wondering, though, how to handle it. Would steel wool be fine, or would I want to shoot some paint. If so, what kind? I've not yet decided if I wish to purchase the wheels (need a fuel tank first), nor do I know if they are the 4.5" bolt pattern I need. I'll have to go back sometime and get a good look. Is there anything in particular that I should watch out for?
Truzi, try this site www.buickperformance.com/finish.htm I found this section on redoing chrome wheels and it works great. I redid my rims this winter and they turned out great. Good luck, Lloyd 1977 Buick Regal 2dr
