I was reading a tread on the GSCA sight that came from The Turbo Buick web site. Anybody know how to post the tread over hear. I think this is very important to us all. If other people figure out how to close race tracks as big as E-town then we are seeing the end.:af:

I think someone really needs to post a tread to this. It's how they are going to close more race trakes down.

I keep an eye on their site.

I know the residents that built their houses around it are up in arms but what did the developers and buyers think when they stole, er, bought the farm land and subdivided it.

I hope the Park has the resources to withstand any action against it; but, they are businessmen too and if some developer makes them an outlandish offer than equates to more gross revenue than they took in over the last twenty years with no expense I reckon they would sell.

Not too many folk around that do anything based on principle anymore.

    EDIT

I love the opening of the site; it brings back the radio commercials of the 70's when I was young and dumb.

Still like it this day now that I'm older and dumber!

Anyone hear the latest news on this?

I don't think that a track of this magnitude will close down. There's a lot of money at stake and losing something like this will really affect the economy of this area.

People who walk a or ride bikes would like access to Walmart. But the subdivision people say there would be too much traffic near their 2 year old neighborhood if we put in a back access road. [ though the traffic would be mute if they never moved here] So people must now walk or ride their bike on the side a busy 4 lane free way to get there. Seams like those people get special treatment.

A handful of new people get to decide for a whole town thats been here forever.

realting to the access road: If it's a subdivision they get special treatment because it is private property, once they have fulfilled thier minimum requirement for access they don't have to do anything and the city has little power to do anything unless a lot of people make a fuss.

As for the track this is like the third time something has been posted about this subject this month. I don't think the track will close either because there are too many things favoring it staying open. To insure it's future it's best to get out there and actually support the track by using it as much as possible and to attend every town meeting where the track is discussed. Also there are a few out there who cut through the subdivision to gain access to the track, this is a bad idea as it only helps bolster the argument of those in the subdivision that the track increases traffic in their neighborhood.
