I'll be going from HEI in-cap coil to an Ignitionman distributor with "normal" coil, and was wondering about the stock coil location. Isn't that an awfully hot location, between the dist and the alt, and right behind the fan? Does it matter, or would the coil be happier somewhere else, like on the fender or maybe radiator support, where it'd be a little cooler? Or am I just being obsessive again? o No:
When I bought my GS the original owner moved it to the fender. So you are not the first one to worry about it. I ran it like that a while then moved it to its pro o No: per location and saw no difference.
