When selecting an after market coil what is the important items to look at??? Im looking at an MSD Blaster II or the MSD Blaster SS coil. The difference is the SS is down by 5000 volts but up by 160mA. What is the difference or better yet what is the most important??? I will be running a MSD 6AL with one of Daves dist.

    Woodie,
Go to the Street/strip 400-430-455 forum and take a look at the coil and plug gap thread. The last post is from the ignition man and he recommends certain coils. I have a MSD Digital 6 box with Daves magnetic pick-up conversion, and I run the MSD chrome coil, part# 8200. It's on Daves list and is the best coil for MSD's 6 series ignition IMHO.

Woodie - The IC12 coil from NAPA is also 'IgnitionMan approved'!!:TU: Should be black...bound to be cheaper.:Brow:

If I remember correctly, Dave said there was another MSD coil that was coming back from being made in Mexico and being built in Indiana. Don't remember the part # though.:Do No:

The NAPA IC 12 is in stock at the local NAPA for $45.57. MSD and Crane are both cheaper!!! Wonder why??? Not really, parts mark up is usually 100% or more.
