Is there a difference between a 66 skylark rear coil spring and a 67? I put a posi rearend from a 66 under my 67 skylark but I ordered new springs for a 66. they came with the top of the spring open, that is, the sping end is not bent into a tighter circle to fit around the cone shaped area on the 67 frame. Hope I explained that okay. Can I heat and bend the spring end? Brad.

    Brad:

The 67 and newer rear springs had both ends necked down. They're called pigtail ends. Whereas the 64 to 66 springs had one pigtail end and one tangential end ( or open). You cannot heat the spring to wrap that open end tighter, it will take all the temper out of the spring and it'll eventually break.
The easiest solution would be send those 66 springs back and buy the correct 67 springs.
