:Do No: I bought this 63 riviera as a project and today I finally tried to fire it up. Well it didn't fire and I'm getting no spark. SO my question is: does the wire coming from the distributer go to the negative side of the coil(where I have it)? The condensor is attached to the coil and the wire from it is going to the + side of the coil. There is another wire that attaches to the + side of the coil that comes from the ignition. With the key on I'm getting approx 12 volts on each terminal of the coil. There is also a yellow wire coming out of this relay type box near the battery, it has an eyelet on the end. Anyone know what it's for? One more ?? I'm convinced that there is no fuse box in this car...can this be? :Dou:

The wire from the distributor does go to the negative post on the coil. Condensor does goes to plus on the coil.

You should have 12 VDC on the pink wire on your coil to ground. I believe the yellow wire goes to your starter and gives the coil a full 12VDC for start up.

Did you try filing the points? Make sure they're gapped to .016. Try the easy stuff first!

Try to find a shop manual for your year car. Wire colors change slightly year to year. You'll never regret it. Fuses are under dash, to left of steering column, up on firewall.

Thanks, it turned out that the wires were hooked up right but the coil was bad! She is running good now, I am surprised with how powerful the 401 seems!!
